Position
The employee position number.
Position
A role with specific duties within the University hierarchy. Attributes of positions include employee class, position classification, Standard Occupational Code, emergency designation status, budget, and title. In position control, a position must first be created, classified, and budgeted before being assigned to a person to create a job.
Position Begin Date
The date that budget funding begins for a position.
Position Campus Security Auth Indicator
Flags positions that require Campus Security Authority Figure training. Campus Security Authority Figures are dictated by Compliance and Safety and Security.
Position Class
This field lists the role and level in one field. This data will be used to differentiate the levels of the role for easy identification
Position Class 1st Mid Mgr Ind
Position Class 1st Mid Mgr Ind indicates if an employee is in a position defined as mid manager for EEO/AAP reporting purposes.
Position Class Activity Dt
The last activity date of changes to the Position Class.
Position Class Change Dt
Position Class Change DT is the actual date the position class or its attributes were modified.
Position Class Code
The Position Class Code is the highest level set of attributes common to several positions such as pay rule(employee Classification) affirmative Action plan group and Standard Occupational codes
Position Class Employee Class Code
Position Class Employee Class Code is the code used to refer to the employee classification for a position class
Position Class Empl Skill Code
The numerical value associated with Employee Skills table.
Position Class Exemption Type
Exemption Type defines which exemption test under the FLSA regulations was used to determine exemption: Creative (C), Learned Professional (L), Administrative (A), Executive (E), or Computer Professional (I). If a position is in Non-Exempt, this field will reflect N for Non-Exempt
Position Class Grade
Position Class Grade is a collection of values for the minimum, midpoint, and maximum annual salary or regular rate of pay. Salary grades are grouped by salary table and salary group in Banner and can be applied at the position classification, position, and job. These represent the lowest, highest, and median values for pay based upon a person's experience. Employees are not hired under the minimum pay and cannot receive merit to base pay once above the maximum. The midpoint represents the most common pay for a given job based upon mid-career-level experience and qualifications. Salary grades at GW are derived from information based on national survey data and Bureau of Labor Statistics data among other sources and are attributed at the position classification level.
Position Class Grouping
Position Class Grouping is the first 4 digits of the Position Class Code which is the highest level set of attributes common to several positions such as pay rule(Employee Classificaiton) affirmative action plan group and Standard Occupational codes

Position Classification Description
The description or title used as a common reference for a given position classification.
Position Class Inactive Ind
Position Class Inactive Ind defines the status of the position classification.
Position Class Level
This is the code in the Banner validation table for Supplemental Data Engine fields (SDE LOV table) and should not be used for reporting. Instead use Position Class Level Desc (which should be relabled as the correct business term "Career Level" or "Level" for short).
Position Class Streams
This is the code in the Banner validation table for Supplemental Data Engine fields (SDE LOV table) and should not be used for reporting. Instead use Position Class Streams Desc (which should be relabled as the correct business term "Career Stream" or "Stream" for short).
Position Class Table
Position Class Table references which salary structure is being used, which is assigned at the position class level, but also displays on the position and job records. Salary Tables are either hourly or salary-based, and can vary based on type of work (Facilities, Campus Police, Research, IT, General).
Position Code
A code used to refer to a specific position in Banner.
Position Designation
An attribute of a position that determines the employee designation once the position has an incumbent.
