You may upgrade as long as the first 5 numbers are the same (or earlier). Steps to check your version.

 A security vulnerability allows for remote code execution in products that use the log4j Apache library.

Upgrade Tableau Desktop to v.2020.4.13

Date Affected Audience Description Steps to take
9/15/2021 GW Tableau Desktop license holders Each year GW renews it's maintenance agreement with Tableau. It is necessary for you to renew your individual product key/license. Follow these steps. Questions? Please submit a ticket to Business Intelligence Services.

1. Open Tableau Desktop

2.  Click "Help"

3. Select "Manage Product Keys"

4. Highlight your key and click "Refresh" The date will change to the following year.

5. Close to exit the menu.

7/15/2021 Update

 

 Users of macOS with Tableau products released in June 2020 or earlier. 

*This affects Mac users only*

After August 10, 2021, you may be unable to launch Tableau applications assigned to your certificate. You will receive an error message stating Tableau quit unexpectedly.

*If using a Mac then confirm Tableau Desktop version equals v.2020.4 otherwise upgrade to v.2020.4*

If your version is affected by this change (see link under affected audience), plan to upgrade your Tableau desktop product to an unaffected version before August 10, 2021.
Downloading Tableau Desktop

Before downloading Tableau Desktop, please review the "Tableau Server Versions" to ensure you are in sync with what version GW is using. If you are not, features may not reflect correctly on GW servers.

If you do not have administrative rights to load software on your computer, you must contact GW IT. Select "IT Professional Services > Administrative Rights for GW Machine."
